Evidence of an Exceptional Place
In just the past few months, we have had several reminders of what makes Wake Forest Baptist Health an exceptional place:
The passing of Dr. Richard Janeway in March reminded us that we have known exceptional leadership over time. It is difficult to overstate his importance in the history of Wake Forest Baptist. He was an iconic leader who oversaw great change and growth at our Medical Center and at the Wake Forest School of Medicine. Our institution is much more successful because of his leadership and hard work.- We continue to receive generous gifts to our Campaign for a new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and continue to work toward our goal of $25 million to create a new NICU to serve families throughout our region.
- This year’s Winterlark, the annual fundraising event for the Cancer Patient Support Program, is a perfect example of the outstanding volunteer work that sustains us. After 36 years, it is going strong, thanks this year to a team of more than 100 community volunteers. The event raised more than $329,000 – the most ever.
- Planning for our new Cancer Survivorship Clinic has required exceptional vision. In its mission and scope, the clinic will be among the first of its kind in the nation, and it will fill an important need for those affected by cancer.
Our leaders, medical professionals, staff and volunteers work hard to make our health system worthy of philanthropic support, and we deeply appreciate the exceptional generosity that so many of you provide. Thank you!
