Medical research is much more than discovery. It is hope. It is a cure. It is the advances that we make here at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, the academic core of the Advocate Health Enterprise, that will benefit our lives and those of generations to come. Behind every medication, every treatment and every surgery, there are thousands of researchers and physicians who spend millions of hours uncovering the answers to the medical challenges that we face today. And supporting them are those whose generosity makes these breakthroughs possible for patients, families and communities.

    OUR CAMPAIGN

    Our Mission:
To raise the critical funding needed to support promising research efforts across the Advocate Health Enterprise, the fifth largest health system and third largest non-profit integrated health system in the country. As the academic core of our recently expanded health system, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and Wake Forest University School of Medicine’s 2,000+ researchers are leading the way in accelerating vital research.

    Our Goal:
To transform health care for our patients, our communities and our next generation of health care leaders, while keeping health equity at the forefront of everything we do. We will accomplish this through groundbreaking research that will help transform the delivery of medicine and save lives.

    Our Vision:
To fuel our commitment to integrating research with clinical care, enhancing the speed with which new ideas can move from our labs to our patients’ bedsides and beyond.

This is your opportunity to join our team in accelerating discovery, hope and health – locally, nationally and globally.

    Messages from Our Leaders

Investing in what we are doing today, and what we will accomplish tomorrow, is an investment in bettering lives through improved health for all.

    Your philanthropy will support...

Pilot research: As new ideas emerge, small pilot grants help researchers gather the data needed to pursue much larger federal grants and industry awards, allowing us to expand our research and increase participation.
Equipment and technology: As we're advancing our research, it is vital to continue upgrading our current equipment, as well as securing new equipment and cutting-edge technology to be used in our labs, with our patients and clinical trials participants.
New faculty start-ups: As new faculty members arrive, they often have specific equipment, supplies and staffing needs to quickly launch their research initiatives.
Community outreach and health equity: Our ongoing work to expand existing programs and create new programs to better educate and care for underserved populations requires continual investment.
Bridge funding: When funding for promising research runs out before the next grant is received, bridge funding allows researchers to receive short-term funding to continue their work and sustain momentum.
Talent recruitment and retention: Through endowing chairs, professorships and faculty scholars, your investment enables us to recruit and retain renowned leaders in medical research.
Clinical research: By investing in new and ongoing clinical trial development, we can continue enrolling as many patients as possible in promising new research studies, with the hope of improved outcomes and cures.
Educational programs: Investments in these programs allow us to continue sharing knowledge and discovery globally, by sponsoring symposia, conferences, lectures, summer research experiences for students, and matching funds for federally sponsored training programs.
Young investigators: Through funding multiyear fellowships for new doctors, we will continue to provide highly specialized training as they care for patients and conduct their future breakthrough research.
Laboratory space enhancements: These investments enable us to create new and updated research labs and other locations to support continued learning, training and discovery.
